301 darts strategies
The Game of 301 needs skills and a lot of it, you need the ability to consistently hit high numbers every time you step up to the ouch. 301 is a fast game and the difference between 501 and 301 is that in 301 you start and end with a double. So the trick here is to double in fast. Don't try to hit double 20 if you don't like this double, it's better to go for the doubles you like even if it's double 8. The faster you double in the better.
When you have doubled inn the strategy is more like 501.
The main thing is to keep calm and relaxed and trust your game. A good practice game for hitting high numbers is 28; this is an excellent training game.
It also helps a lot to learn the out chart, because you always know which number to hit next when you have 170 points left or less. My opinion is that the out chart is the bible for 501 darts game. Once you memorize it all your game will reach to a higher level and you don’t stop up in the middle of the game calculating, you know which number to hit next. So when you know what to throw at, your game will float much better.
A good rule is: don’t get caught up in the highest number on the board. If you’re hot at 15, 16, 17, 18 or 19 this will also make a good score. If you throw 60 points or more each round you are beginning to be a good dart player with an average of 20 each darts. Not bad at all!
Also ignore your opponent’s throws. It may sounds a bit odd, but there’s not much you can do about it, so it’s better to keep full focus on how you do it and not your opponent. A lot of people let this affect their game and that’s not in a good way, so don’t be the guy that’s get affected by your opponent.
Aiming to hard is not a good thing; you can find yourself throwing poorly because you are trying to hard to aim your darts. When you are concentrating to hard on each darts destination it can cause you to get tense and this again force you out of control. Consider focusing on the first dart you throw and use this dart as a marker dart. If the first dart is a good dart all you need to do is repeat that throwing motion. By not aiming every dart you maintain relaxed and calm, which again is the key to be a good darts player.
Close fast / Double fast; You have to practise your double, the faster you can close the better, so here I recommend a lot of practice, especially the training game 27 (excellent for double practice) You can be a big shot at throwing high scores, but if you don’t hit the doubles you will most likely loose.. So practice the doubles.
John Lowe has written in his book the art of darts (great reading). Train doubles the goal should be
1 – 20 in no more then 40 darts. And you ask yourself is that possible?? Yes a good rules is to practice, practice, and practice and do a bit more practice
